The First Shadow

Something older than light is waking.

The World

A Dying Age

Before the gods drew breath, before the first star ignited in the void, there was something else. Not darkness — darkness is merely the absence of light. This was older. A presence that watched the universe form with the patience of something that has never needed to hurry.

The world of The First Shadow is one in the final hours of a long forgetting. Civilizations have risen and crumbled to dust, their names worn smooth by centuries of silence. What remains are the ruins of things that should not have been built, and the descendants of those who built them — carrying in their blood a debt they do not yet understand.

The Shadow does not hunt. It does not pursue. It simply waits, as it has always waited, for the moment when the last light goes out.

Fragments of a Broken World

The Void Between Stars

Astronomers who stare too long into the deep sky begin to see patterns that were never mapped. The void is not empty. It has always been watching back.

The First Ones

They did not arrive. They were here before arrival was possible. The oldest texts do not name them — they only describe the silence that follows when their name is spoken aloud.

The Unwritten Law

There is a covenant older than language, older than thought. Every civilization has broken it. None have survived long enough to understand what they broke.

A Note on the Work

The First Shadow began as a question: what if the horror was not in the monster, but in the moment you realize the monster has always been there? This novel is an attempt to write that moment — slowly, carefully, and without mercy. It is a work in progress. The world is still forming. The shadow is still spreading.

The story is not yet written.
